This is my first EVER income report on the blog.
Every month I will be reporting here to share how my brand is progressing. As of right now, this blog is not making much money at all. I would love to hear your advice on how to crank this up to the next level.
Fortunately, I have other income streams, like email marketing and my YouTube channel that enable me to live a nomadic lifestyle.
That’s me on the right.
Drunk, I know.
What you’re going to notice from these income reports, is that I definitely don’t make the most money online. There’s loads of other marketers that make more than I do.
And in fact, making the most money possible is not my main goal.
The objective of a digital nomad is to have BOTH time and money.
Money without time, has no value.
I will be sharing:
- My blog and YouTube traffic stats
- How much money I make online
- How much time it took
- What I’m working on
So… Let us begin!
The Traffic Stats
Like I said earlier, this blog accounts for a very small % of my income.
As you’d expect, the traffic numbers are fairly minimal. <– that needs to change
advice?
Anywho, here’s the blog’s BIG BAD traffic stats:
The average session duration of over 2 minutes is good. That means people are actually staying on the blog. Yay!
The 68% bounce rate is not the best. I have to work on that somehow.
1.83 pages per session is around average. This might be fixed with more shameless interlinking to other blog posts. Like this one here.
Overall, there is some work to be done on this blog.
What about the YouTube traffic:
YouTube end is steady.
Not much movement in either direction.
I was actually hoping to get a bit of a traffic boost there, because I published a new video in September.
Looking back at the video, it was definitely NOT my best work.
It was on How to Make Money on YouTube:
Some good advice there.
Breaks down my three main YouTube sources of income.
- Adsense
- Affiliate Offers
- List Building
In all honestly, I did a much better job of transparently showing my YouTube business here.
Keep your eyes out in October, I have a new video series about to launch 🙂
And many more plans for expanding throughout 2016.
… But more on that later!
How Much Money I made in the last 30 days:
This is not going to be mind blowing numbers. Keep that in mind.
Remember, my main goal is PASSIVE INCOME.
That means that both TIME and MONEY are important.
I usually make around 4,000-6k+/month.
September was in the middle.
Here’s the numbers:
- JvZoo = $1723.65
- WarriorPlus = $536.82
- ClickBank = $706.47
- ListSpark Earnings = $16.90
- Solo Ads = $525 (minus PayPal fees)
- Adsense Earnings = Approximately $750 (not allowed to give exact figures)
- Consultation Earnings = $450
Total Gross Earnings = $4,708.84
Expenses:
- Aweber = $180
- ListSparkPro = $18
- Domain Renewals = $26.93
- TrafficPlanetHosting = $50
Total Expenses = $274.93
Was it a good month?
Let’s do the final calculations <– (i’m such a nerd)
$4708.84 – $274.93
Grand Total: $4,433.91
I wish I would have started these income reports a lot sooner. This month was a bit of a drop off for me with affiliate earnings. The consultation earnings, on the other hand, are a new income source. For the first time ever, I’m starting to take on students, to teach them my tricks of the trade.
With the addition of this new income source, I’m about on par for an average earning month.
How much time did I spend?
A big theme with my marketing, is spending less time on work.
Sure, it’s great to make the big bucks.
But I’ll NEVER give up the big hours to do it.
This month I spent about 2 hours working on my new YouTube video.
Although I usually support cutting hours. I wish I would have spent a bit more time on that. My YouTube videos are something that I take a bit more seriously.
For email marketing, I spent around 20 minutes per day.
- Writing new swipes
- Expanding my autoresponder sequence
- Sending out daily broadcasts
You do not need to spend 20 minutes to maintain a list.
It’s easy to do this in 10 minutes or less.
I actually don’t mind spending up to 30 minutes per day on email related stuff. Anything more than that, and I start to get really bored.
I recommend you find a balance that works for you. And NEVER overwork yourself!!
My coaching took four hours this week. This is on a limited time basis.
I offer this to the right clients at $97/hour.
It actually took (and takes) a bit longer than the scheduled time.
Because I always check beforehand whether my coaching services would be helpful for prospective clients. I do not need to do coaching to pay the bills. I have enough income from other sources. So, I really only choose to do this if it’s a win-win for both me and the student.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, give me a PM on my FaceBook Fan Page.
Overall, I’d estimate that I put in around 15 hours this month.
Or around 4 hours/week.
That’s the four hour work week!!
Remember, a few years back a marketer named Tim Ferriss wrote a book called the Four Hour Work Week.
It was loaded with CONTROVERSY.
Critics complained that the “four hour work week” is not possible.
Well, let this income report prove that this is definitely possible.
My workload this month was around 4hr/week, and I have more than enough to pay my bills and expenses.
In fact, I’ve even purchased some exciting flight tickets. But more on that in the next section.
What I’m Working On / Future Plans
This October, I’m launching a new video series on YouTube.
Not ready to reveal details about it yet. But it’s about a topic that will be helpful to loads of my followers.
Of course, expect the videos to be transparent, with actual practical value.
It’s insane how many “gooroos” try to trick their audience into making sales.
That’s just bad business. And it eventually catches up these marketers.
The better way to do business is to provide value. That’s how you build a following that’s inspired to support you for the long term.
As always, I’m going to be continuing a transparency + value approach.
Please leave me a comment below on how I can help you with your business!
This video series is going to take up the bulk of my extra time. I don’t allow myself to overwork… EVER!
Future Plans
Caitlyn and myself bought two tickets to Thailand in February.
We are currently in Medellin, Colombia.
We love it here, but it’s time to add a little beach action into our lives.
Colombia is beautiful. If you ever have the time, there’s so much to do and see. The people are friendly. There’s not enough good things I can say about it.
At the end of the day, it’s about finding what derives: inspiration, meaning and pleasure.
We need a beach!
Here’s a pic of new friends:
Yes, I have had a good number of beers in this photo.
You really need to see the Colombian night life.
It’s something else!
Wrapping it up!
This is my first income report.
As such, it’s bound to be improve-able.
I’ve noticed many other marketers create these, but I want to make one’s that are most useful to my readers. <– I need more of those. Please pass this on to your friends! 🙂
So it’s been a great month. The income numbers were a little below average. But with the minimal time put-in, I was able to live where I want, doing what I want. And that’s the important part.
Gimme your feedback.
What are your thoughts?
