This is a TERRIBLE question…
Yet, I answer it all the time. <– Usually with another question.
The conversation goes something like this:
Joe Blow – Yo Brendan, I’m thinking about getting into this list building stuff. I want to quit my job ASAP – I hate it there. The boss sucks. The day-to-day tasks are boring. You need to save me, dude. I can’t do the 9-5 life anymore. How much money can I make with 5 hours of work a week?
Me – Hey Mike! There is no set amount of dollars/hour in this business. Some people do really well – others never earn a single cent. Quitting your job is a realistic (and desirable) outcome.
Joe Blow – Yeah, yeah I get all that… Can you just make an approximation? I want to quit tomorrow.
Me – NO!! There is no way to estimate. Your goal is NOT to make a wage… It’s to create a sustainable business that runs on near autopilot.
These talks end with a tiny (yet BIG) question:
“If you could make $2 for every $1 you spend on traffic, how much money could you make?”
Pretty much unlimited, right?
That’s how this whole thing works.
My dollars PER HOUR are insane. Largely because I’m successful at this stuff now. But also because I expend almost zero time on my business.
My goal is not to make the most amount of money possible (although I’d be okay with that). My real incentive is to have personal FREEDOM.
I want to make good money… I also want to spend LESS time.
Making more is nice… but it’s not the end goal.
- Time without money sucks.
- Money without time is worse.
We want PASSIVE Income.
We don’t want needy girlfriend income. We want freedom to do what we want… when we want.
And for that kind of freedom – your business model must be inherently passive.
How much time do I spend per week?
Other than blog posts (like this one), that I do voluntarily, because I WANT TO… My usual week has about 2 hours and 20 minutes that I absolutely must attend.
Well, not even that really. I could invest 0 mins if I wanted. To be able to collect a good passive income – I must invest 20 mins per day.
How much money do I make per month?
Right now – I’m making about $6,000+/Month in passive income.
No, it’s not getting me on the Forbes list anytime soon.
I even do my own laundry *GASP*
BUT!
I live anywhere I want with zero obligations.
None. Nada. Zilch.
You Want?… I show You!
90% of internet marketing courses are BULLSHIT.
Yes, I pulled that stat out of nowhere.
But let’s be honest for a second… They don’t care about your success. They want your money.
They get rich by selling their product to as many people (suckers) as possible. That’s their goal. It’s what motivates their sales tactics and promises.
Don’t fall for it.
Now, I realize at this point, It sounds like I’m saying don’t trust anyone…
They’re all LIARS… except me!!
That’s not true. I only said that 90% are liars. Or better yet… Entrepreneurs.
10% of the stuff out there has some damn cool tidbits.
The problem is:
- courses are usually expensive
- how do you tell what’s good vs terrible
That’s why I don’t create products.
AND… I don’t charge people anything.
I refuse.

This – in my opinion – is a better way to do business.
My $6,000/Month passive income is divided into three revenue streams:
- Growing My YouTube channel (strategy #1)
- Building an Email List (strategy #2)
- Amazon Niche Sites (strategy #3)
What I recommend – no matter what…
The majority of my income (around $3,200/month) is from list building.
It also happens to be what I spend the LEAST amount of time on…
Looking back on my digital nomad journey. It’s 100% what I’m most happy I got into.
So yeah, list building is awesome. Learn how to do it with ClickBank right here.
Should I even bother with anything else?
Yes, I think so…
The advantage of niche sites, blogs, YouTube channels, etc. Is that they’re all PASSIVE.
My 20 mins of work per day are spent on list building stuff.
Technically, my niche sites and YouTube channel makes more money per hour.
It takes time to build – then runs on autopilot.
My YouTube channel is getting 30% growth per month right now. I haven’t touched it in 2 months.
It makes me $1,800/month on autopilot.
Hold the phone, you said you spend less time on list building…
I’m not lying… but I don’t want to mislead you, either.
YouTube and niche sites took a lot of time on the front end. Now I can sit back and enjoy the passive profits. But it took hours of writing articles and shooting videos to get to this point.
It’s a front-end workload with a back-load of passive income.

And finally, my niche site strategy.
People love to create niche sites. It’s where I started – I loved it too.

Now, let’s get to the real meat and potatoes.
Okay Brendan, what the heck do you spend your 20 mins per day on…
Lemme tell ya the goods!
If you’ve seen this post, you’ll notice I’ve used that image before.
I like it. Looks like he’s telling her something REALLY juicy.
Whatever it is – she’s shocked!
In all reality, this is not going to be that shocking. Sorry to disappoint y’all.
It works like this:
I wake up in the morning at 8:30 AM.
Time is really irrelevant here. You could wake up 11:00 AM for all I care.
Preferably before noon, tho!
I log in to my Aweber account with my email lists.
Right now, I’m looking at about 20 seconds.
Especially with my auto-fill password.
I write out (or copy) an email to send.
Like these:
I have three Aweber accounts in total. So this, takes me about 10 minutes…
Then, I have about 10 minutes left.
For what?
Later at night (around 5:00 PM), I’ll log back in to my accounts and send another email. For another 10 minutes of time total.
Which leaves us with the FULL 20 mins…
Phew!
Tough life, right?!
So, in 20 minutes. I’ve managed to pull off sending out thousands of emails. Thanks Aweber!
I don’t even always do that…
I’m lazy – I’ll admit it!
Some nights I don’t even bother to send. Goes to show that with a very minimal amount of effort, you could easily replicate (or even surpass) my results.
This stuff is easy, guys. Seriously!
Brendan, how is this Passive if you still need 20 mins per day?…
I get it.
You want something that’s 100% hands off. So that you can vacation wherever you want, and not even have to worry about lifting a finger.
Except to grab a beer or two.
Here’s me in Colombia having a cold one:
In order to be 100% (or close too…) passive income, you have two options:
- 1) You can outsource the email delivery to someone (must be trustworthy)
- 2) You can schedule your emails in advance.
I personally like option #2 the best. It gives me full control.
Instead of spending 20 mins per day.
I’ll spend 3 hours setting up emails in an autoresponder sequence.
That 3 hours could easily have me all set up to go passive for 2 weeks.
Of course, once the end date of the sequence arrives, you’ll have to set up more emails.
Getting 100% passive income is damn near impossible.
We can – however – get really close.
Are you ready for this?
Becoming a digital nomad is scary. I dunno why it is, honestly. There’s nothing more liberating than creating a passive income stream that pays your bills.
There’s something about rejecting the status quo that drives us bonkers.
It will be the best thing you ever do, though…
Live where you want. Do what you want.
All is possible with my simple blueprint.
