Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s talk about the MailIt WordPress Plugin.
The most common way to send emails is by using Aweber or GetResponse.
My preference is Aweber.
… They both do the same thing.
This review will uncover the GOOD and the BAD of using a tool like Mail It.
Ultimately, it comes down to how you plan to deploy email marketing.
Why would you replace Aweber or GetResponse?
The main selling point (it shouldn’t be, though) of Mail It is price.
Third party mailing solutions are expensive.
At one point, I had 42,000+ subscribers on my list.
It cost me several hundred dollars per month.
You may be thinking, holy fucking Bat Balls, that’s expensive.
Not really, though.
The reality is that you should be making far more than your autoresponder fees.
So while I would regularly owe a few hundred in fees every 30 days, my income is close to $10,000 per month.
Abandoning Aweber or GetResponse because of fees is stupid.
You should be making WAY more than what they cost.
Why Mail It Could Double Your Business?
Now we’re going to talk about complicated stuff.
Please don’t leave this post. This may be boring, but it is important.
Aside from what you write, the “inboxing rate” of your mailer is the most important thing in your business.
A lot of people confuse “deliverability rating” with “inboxing.”
They are NOT the same thing.
Deliverability means how many emails actually get delivered to your subscribers.
If this is anything less than 99%, you have a bigger problem.
Autoresponders brag about high deliverability.
It doesn’t mean anything. Of course it should be high. It’s a false selling point.
The much more important metric is your “inboxing rate.”
This is how many emails actually make it into the inboxes of your subscribers, and avoid getting drowned in the spam filters.
Which is CRUCIAL.
Think about it, if you DOUBLE your inboxing, you are essentially DOUBLING your business.
How to Double Your Inboxing Rate?
There are no surprises here.
All email filters are simply using an algorithm.
These filters are robots. And robots are predictable.
What Will Impact Your Inboxing:
- Engagement on Emails
- Amount of Spam Complaints
- Amount of Whitelists
- OTHER PEOPLE* (when sharing IP’s)
This is a little known thing that most people have never learned.
It’s mainly about how subscribers interact with your emails.
I like to think of it as a point based system.
- 1 open = 1 point
- 1 click = 2 points
- 1 reply = 20 points
In other words, the filters are judging what people are doing with your emails.
If subscribers are throwing your emails in the trash and not even reading them.
… That’s bad.
If subscribers are opening, clicking and replying to your messages.
… That’s good.
Expert email marketers know that it’s worth your while to even ask for engagement.
Doing things like “hit me up with a reply to this email” will give you A LOT of engagement points.
Where Aweber or GetResponse Could Help or Hurt You
These third party services SHARE IP’s with MANY PEOPLE.
That means that Joey Sixpack could be using the same IP with you. As well as a bunch of other potential hooligans.
The benefit of Aweber and GetResponse is that they fix problems.
If the IP gets blacklisted, they will make it un-blacklisted. And potentially ban some accounts in the process.
When people complain about these autoresponders banning customers.
THEY ARE NOT BANNING PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY DON’T LIKE MONEY.
Aweber will ban someone if the damage to the IP’s is too great.
Unfortunately, I actually think Aweber and GetResponse should be more people.
These services are like a public swimming pool.
Enough people pee in the pool, and you don’t really want to swim there anymore.
If you are a spammer…
Then you will benefit from Aweber and GetResponse.
You get a relatively clean swimming pool, and still get to blast the hell out of it.
If you are a “value first” email marketer…
Then you will prefer to be self hosted.
Which is where Mail It comes in to the game.
The purpose of this product is to easily give you a self hosted solution.
How to Really 10x Your Business
- Get a self hosted solution.
- Deliver the goods to your subscribers.
- Quality emails that entertain and encourage them to engage.
Other email marketers will struggle with -5% open rates.
Your open rates can be 20%+
As I say this, I am still using Aweber. I have used lots of self hosted solutions in the past. But I did not deliver value at that time, and I got the wrath of a self hosted solution.
I have purchased Mail It, and will be setting it up.
You may ask “how can you review a product you haven’t tested.”
Remember, robots are not complicated. This solution delivers exactly what it promises. An easy way to set up a self hosted autoresponder from a WordPress site.
You will not find a tool that can promise better than that.
The Caveat of Going Self Hosted.
If you deliver crappy emails, you will get TERRIBLE results.
If you deliver quality emails, you will get 4-10X better results than the average marketer.
My Verdict: Mail It Review
This all depends on how you plan to market your business.
If you’re sending bullshit emails, then your best option is Aweber.
And I don’t even mean that in a bad way. That’s just the truth.
Aweber will ensure that your inboxing is decent.
That being said, they won’t go above or beyond that.
In order to get exceptional inboxing rates, and also save spending several hundred dollars per month on an autoresponder service, you need to have a self hosted solution.
Mail It is the easiest self hosted option, and can be very powerful if used properly.
Benefits:
- Save money (potentially $300+ per month)
- Better Inboxing Rate
Downsides:
- Terrible Inboxing Rate (if you are a spammer)
I have purchased this product.
It’s a one time fee, so the worst case scenario is losing a bit of money.
The upside to a self hosted solution is huge.
Lots of saved money BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, a potentially higher inboxing rate.
