By reading this post, you must on some level be ready for change.
“If you’re losing your soul & you know it, then you’ve still got a soul to lose.”
– Charles Bukowski
This guy hates going to school.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a choice.
Working a 9-5 job is like being in elementary school for the rest of your life.
- Early mornings with loud alarm clocks.
- Annoying bosses telling you what to do.
- Rules that you must follow or face the consequences.
- No choice on your colleagues.
- Recess is too short.
Jobs suck.
Choose to be different.
Why Do We Ignore the Obvious?
Most of us hate our jobs.
Yet so few people decide to become self employed.
There’s this baffling conditioning to follow the herd. We look to others to give us cues on what decisions to make in life.

Five monkeys that were behaviourally programmed to beat each other up.
“Well I don’t know, that’s just how things are done around here.”
Get the connection?
We rarely make the best decision for ourselves.
Instead, we follow the behaviour of others.
How to Be Different?
Get better role models.
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
– Jim Rohn
Most of us intentionally or accidentally mimmic our friends.
That can be a big problem.
While everyone else is watching Netflix and drinking beers, that’s your opportunity to make progress.
Finding ambitious mentors is only a challenge if you’re limiting yourself to the real world.
Mentorship from US Presidents, Business Icons and other influencers is easier than you think.
You just need to open a book.
Within a few minutes, you can be listening to the wise words of Steve Jobs or Tony Robbins.
And now with YouTube, you can actually watch these leaders change lives.
Here’s some advice from three of MY mentors:
You have choice.
What you put in your head will manifest in your life.
If you load up with trash, that is the skill set you will develop.
You want an extraordinary life, you need to have an extraordinary mind.
Always be aware of what you learn.
Your thoughts impact your actions. Those actions will determine your life!
What Happens When You Break the Mold?
You’ve built up the courage and quit your job.
Good for you!!
I’m telling you that because your friends probably won’t congratulate you.
Family is a mixed bag.
My parents have always unconditionally believed in my actions.
I was lucky that way.
My friends, on the other hand, thought I was an idiot.
… Just another online scam… They would think…
My next clip I have for you is a bit longer.
Watch it. (2 mins total)
This scene gives me goosebumps.
We are constantly explicitly or implicitly told our capabilities.
IGNORE PEOPLE THAT MAKE YOU FEEL LIMITED.
There are two reasons for a fixed mindset:
- Envy
- Safety
Both breed out of fear.
Envy makes people want you to stay grounded.
They’re afraid to do something meaningful and they don’t want to feel guilty about it.
When you become successful, these envious termites will surface.
Understand this, and they will not penetrate your mind.
Safety makes people avoid change. These types of people will try and keep you grounded as well. But this time out of an interest to protect you. They are even more dangerous.
Because they come from love, the instinct is to listen.
What they don’t understand, is that there’s nothing harmful about pursuing your dreams.
“When you’re on a journey to fulfill your personal legend, the whole universe conspires to help you achieve it.”
– Paulo Coelho
If you are persistent enough, you will be successful.
Should You Quit Your Job Tomorrow?
Probably not.
Can you?
I never encourage anyone to irresponsibly eliminate their only income source.
The only exception to this rule is if you have significant savings.
Otherwise, it’s crucial to conquer your legend in the after hours.
You may be tired, sure, but remember that this is your escape.
Once you figure it all out, you never have to go back.
However, it can take longer than you expect.
For me, it was eight years.
If I would have given up my job, I would have lost everything. At that point, I would have been a lot more likely to give up.
My success was a result of continuous imperfect action.
By paying bills and working shitty jobs, I understood the importance of becoming free.
It also gave the universe time to conspire in my favour.
